Utility Billing Process

  • Bills are issued quarterly for the periods ending March, June, September and December.
  • The quarterly minimum charge is $71.54 on a standard residential 5/8" meter.
  • The quarterly minimum charge includes up to 14 m³ of water usage on a standard residential 5/8" meter.
  • You are then billed for any water consumption that exceeds 14 m³ (on a 5/8" meter).
  • In summary, each bill includes the minimum quarterly charge plus any over consumption charges for the billing quarter.
  • Please ensure you contact the Utility Department at 204-268-7551 if you are moving.

Tips for Investigating Unusually High Water Bills 

  • Check for obvious signs such as leaking faucets.
  • Do a color test on ALL toilets in the home – YOU CANNOT ALWAYS HEAR A TOILET RUNNING! You can use food colouring to test. Put a few drops in the back tank of all the toilets in your home. Let sit for 2 hours without flushing. If ANY colour appears in the toilet bowl, you have a leak and should have it repaired or replaced as soon as possible. A leak will only get worse with time.
  • Read your meter before going to bed and then again when you wake up - if you haven't used any water and there is a difference your readings, something is running/leaking.
  • Be sure to turn outside valves off when not in use.
